interesting poem i found..

Freedom Is Never Free by James Grengs

They tell me
'Freedom is never free.'
I know that-
More than most realize.
Freedom cost us more
Than we should have to give.
Freedom cost us blood.
It cost us the lives
Of our fathers,
Our sons,
Our brothers.
But while freedom is never free,
Remember-
It has been bought at great price,
And so is a thing of great value.
We must defend it,
From those who would take it away.
The defense of our freedoms
Will cost us-
More than we wish to pay.
But we must pay, to defend,
For if we try to make freedom free,
We forget-
True freedom is never free.

NE learning journey: Lion's Trail

Argh, i know i'm a bit late, but you know what they say, better late then never, but latest is never, so here i am, posting our "fun", "exciting" field trip.

Well, we first started off in school with a bunch of stupid lessons which caused my blood to boil.
Why the hell does 4-3, 4-4, 4-5 get to go in the morning?! It's like so damn unfair, 4-1, 4-2 goes in the afternoon while they have stupid ICT (intensive chinese training) in the morning -.- Halloo, they get to be dismissed at 1+ and we get to be dismissed at like 5+? How fair is that -.-

So without further delay, here are the pictures (eldon actually got into most of the pictures):

Our visit to Heritage Gallery, Eldon posing with a bunch of statues =_=

Funny facts: The british actually told us to dig our own bomb shelters, then told us to cover it in case it breeds mosquitos. Like WHO THE HELL CARES ABOUT MOSQUITO BITES WHEN YOU GET BLASTED BY BOMBS?! And actual instructions:" Avoid touching the sides of the trench(prevents motion transfer from impacts of bombs and cause damages to internal organs), knee down, cover your ears and open your mouth when the bomb is about to drop. Eldon was in that pose, but i couldn't fetch my camera in time, so you have to picture how stupid you look everytime a bomb drops.

The picture from another view w/o Eldon.

Eldon driving a firetruck (thank god they removed the engine before he could hijack it) En Yeow (i think) in the background)

"Heil Hitler!" it seems to say, but no, its a malay regiment army motar team.

Some bungalow turned to a museuem belonging to rich british who laundered our hard earned money, deprived of our rights (bomb shelters), at bukit chandu (opium hill). Here, brave malay regiments fought with their lives and lost them so we could at least have the thought of not being conquerored by the japanese. We got our peace eventually (thanks to nukes)

Basically this tour was suppose to cover all 5 aspects of total defence, was rather propaganda-ish IMO. Oh well, our educational system's screwed anyway, what worse can silly little propaganda do?

Hmm, exam feedback..

lala~ so today, we have EXAMINATIONS FEEDBACK, also known as, teacher crap, student slack. Mdm shariffa was talking, telling us about physics, but none of us were in the mood to listen after the checking of the exam scripts. I mean its something like, you just won the lottery, all you care is the winnings (marks), why would you still look at the lottery ticket? The S.S. feedback was the same, i was staring blankly at LFL and mr sophiandy moving their jaws up and down like some goldfish in a fish bowl, we had no exam scripts to refer to and all we can do is stare and try to absorb. It's a bloody failure dammit =_= (if the australians can use bloody in the commercials, so can i in my blog =D)

So after looking at the paper with the tabulated scores and blah blah, i discovered my ranking improved by 8! =D Hurray for me~ but my marks sucks so much that i swore i saw some dark clouds swarming to my direction! Then i saw my father brandishing a thunderbolt, riding on a dark chariot pulled by a dozen of atramentous furious mares, staring at me viciously with his eyes breeding of anger and fury at my E8 combined humanities results. I could only brace myself for the apocalypse's coming and wear ear plugs at this terrible fate which awaits me.

Wished i had a parent who'd go sth like, ITS OK! YOU'VE IMPROVED! NOW BEAT KWEK!. Yeah like wth, kwek's insane as usual, his intelligence way surpasses of ours that we cannot fathom like Einstein's theories to past scientists. 96% for amaths while around 1/3 of us failed (excluding me but im gonna get a big headache) Example:

Me: HEY BUT THE PAPER IS TOUGH!

Kor: Whats the highest?

Me: .....ninety..six...

Kor: see how come that guy can score ninety six you score only a sixty two point five?

Me: he's insane?

Kor: Naahhhh, don make excuses lah you
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Next time i should just exclude kwek's existence and take li hua's result as the best =_=

FREED FROM THE CRUEL CHAINS OF NWSP!

Yayy~~~~I just crossed one of the hurdles in my life, my first "large-scale" presentation. Will upload the pictures of our presentations later once Mr Lim saves them via gmail =)

Was kinda happy, i've made MANY discoveries today =D. First, none of the 10 teams that RI sent made it into the finals at all, *ang chios*

So the moral of the study is, don't be too kiasu, stop sending so many teams over, do so many posters, and make the rest suffer by letting mentor teachers learn it and make their students suffer =(

Now second, justin became a ladykiller today =O No joke! He shocked us like an electric eel when he bravely went over to the RGS team and talked to them about their project. If you ask me, justin's one of the smartest guy in school (in terms of general knowledge), i think he was trying to tell the RGS team that the solar panel thingy isn't feasible at all. I think so too +_+ Don't know how the hell did they bluff through the figures and stuff. Must be lies because we've all been doing R&D making the prices to go as low as possible, and here they are, claiming to be the first to say its cost effective and get 13.5 years of free electricity within 20 years of solar panel lifespan.

Now thirdly, yi chang is a philanderer! haha, jk jk, no offense XD But don't know why, he was taking pictures of the 6-girls team from woodgrove secondary school. I was dumbfounded when i saw that, after seeing justin talking to the girls from RGS, rubbing my eyes in disbelief.

Fourthly, Wayne has a terribly bad sense of humour during our Q&A session today.

Judge: What do you think is the quantitative amount of damage for the buildings? (like how bad is bad?)

Wayne: Err, we used our FIVE SENSES to see the damages.

Uni's thoughts: *SHOCKED* WHAT?!

Wayne: Sight, touch...err..smell..taste..Just generally haha.

-whole audience laughs-

Uni's thought: OH MY TERRIYAKI DON! WE'RE SCREWED *buries face in hands*

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So after Q&A, we had a teabreak, then i ran around saying:

"Only wayne tasted and smelt the mould, we didn't do anything!"

"Bread mould is yummy! Declares Wayne"

"Vice-head, lice-head, he tastes and hears the mould!"
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh well, that pretty much concludes today's funny events. Gonna sleep now, cya!

The good and the bad about this weekend.

Good:
I celebrated my birthday and had a really good meal =P At robertson quay, a yakitori bar.
Here's the pictures:

Ribeye, Chicken terriyaki with leeks (yakitori) Scallops wrapped in asparagus and barbequed
Front of the Yakitori bar
Skewered Chicken Skin (its so sinful ._.)
My birthday cake
Grilled Leeks

Smoked Mackeral
Roasted Lambchops <3

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok, so thats the food, i had choya too! I think that means sour plum alcohol, with soda. Got a bit drunk XD

And, the bad:

4 A2 sized posters, containing coloured digital pictures. Then we stayed back on friday, do our stupid posters till around 5pm+. So after we finished it, we have to print using some commercial printers. So we have to spend time looking for it (luckily amanda's mum does printing, thanks tiffanie's information)

Then after solving all those problems, mrs loh msged sth like:

Ehh, i want you guys to change the pictures, copyright issues. So you have to DRAW them.

Uni's feelings: WTF IS WRONG WITH THE DAMN COPYRIGHT LAW?! EVERYTHING IS ALSO COPYRIGHTED! DAMN LA! MUST DRAW MEH?!

Don't know wth are we gonna do on monday =_=

Happy birthday to me =3

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/10th_May

Ah, its been 16 years of my life, 192 months, 5760 days, 138 240 hours, 8 294 400++minutes and counting ~ Since the day i'm bored, quite awesome isn't it? =3

Well, as i look back and reflect about life, one buzzy thing keeps popping up. My nerd-side of me , screaming like a penny crying for mercy being pinched by one of the world's greatest misers, "WHAT ABOUT PHYSICS?!!?!!??!!"

oh well screw physics, i can always study that another day =3

Hmm time for reflections:

I'm thankful, for my family, my naggy parents who's persistent voice rang out at the nick of time before i take the hairpin turn to the wrong path of life

I'm thankful for all my good friends, who're there to laugh, cry, joke, etc with me.

I'm thankful to be able to live in a developed country like singapore

I'm thankful for the yummies i get to eat occasionallt

I'm thankful for my health conscious parents who forces me to eat the distasteful veggies and fruits to boost my immune system

I'm thankful for the computer and wikipedia =D

I'm thankful for my handphone, allowing me contact everyone whenever i want (except when the battery dies on me =( )

And finally, im thankful to be thankful X)

Oh well, thats all i could think of, gonna study before the nerd-me overthrows logical-me in a nazi party with the hitler-me and goth-me. Nitez! =3

Screwed up exams X)

Ok, this post will be especially dedicated to people who has this thought in their head:

a) DAMN LA! I SCREW UP FOR EXAMS! DAMN LA!
b) WAH LAO! I DIE LIAO LOR! I WROTE OUT OF POINT/ETC

So, using the logic of people feeling much better when someone else screws up worse, i decided to wash my dirty laundry(sorta) in public to make you guys feel better!

Chinese paper:

Sheesh fine, i wrote words instead of numbers for the cloze passage too -.- Get a life dammit, it ain't the end of the world

English paper:

HEY! My pens all ran out of ink, i wrote my damn 300 word + letter application in pencil, PLUS, i wrote out of point worrying about the ink!

Combined Humanities: Social Studies

Hmm, i wrote:

George bush looks like a monkey, thus the source is biased and cannot be reliable.
*Note: George bush DOES look like a monkey =D So the cartoonist isn't wrong =O

Combined Humanities: Geography

I did all 3 questions =D ANNNND, i didn't have time to finish my mapwork =(

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, here are MY screw ups, so you're probably laughing away =D But don't worry, it doesn't affect me because i don't really think mid year results are gonna affect your Prelim grades. This is just a test before teh real thing, so buck up, wash your tears away, learn your mistakes and don't make them again =)
